The ITF CBI Course is the follow-up to the ITF Play Tennis Course, designed to help coaches progress from assistant coach to independent coach. This intensive programme prepares you to coach beginner and intermediate players confidently.

Course Overview

  • 86 - 110 hours of blended learning
  • Final assessments include:
  • 30-point multiple-choice written test
  • Tennis ability test
  • Group lesson test
  • Individual lesson test

Who Can Join?

To register, participants must:

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Be in good health and fitness to complete course requirements.
  • Have successfully completed the ITF Play Tennis Course with a tutor recommendation.
  • Demonstrate a minimum playing level (rallying, basic strokes, feeding balls).
  • A playing test will be conducted during the course.

What You’ll Learn

Upon completion, coaches will be able to:

  • Work independently with beginner and intermediate players.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of methodology, strategy, tactics, technique, biomechanics, and player development.
  • Effectively use feeding, rallying, and live-ball situations to challenge players.
  • Deliver both group and individual lessons with confidence.

Certification & Assessments

  • Pass mark: 67% (20/30) in the written test.
  • Participants will have two opportunities during the course to pass the playing, group, and individual lesson assessments.
  • Re-assessments are available if needed to complete certification.
