STA Selection
Methodology

Transparent and evidence-based athlete evaluation.

Overview

The Singapore Tennis Association (STA) Selection Methodology is used to support athlete selections and resource allocation, including Wild Cards.

Recognising the importance of both the Daily Training Environment (DTE) and Competition Environment (CE), these key pillars have been integrated into the framework in alignment with the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model and National Tennis Pathway (NTP).

Eligibility

Providing false, misleading, or inaccurate information may result in disqualification, withdrawal of benefits, and/or disciplinary action.

Singapore Citizens only

Applicants must be Singapore Citizens.

Good standing

Must be in good standing with STA and SportSG.

Priority consideration

Priority will be given to athletes currently carded under a spexScheme.

Complete application

Application form and supporting documents must be submitted accurately.

Rankings

  • Singles ranking is used based on the ranking that gives the athlete the highest points.
  • Doubles ranking points may be awarded as bonus points.
ATP / WTA Singles Ranking
ATP / WTA Singles Ranking 25 points The applicant will be awarded 25 points if he/she holds an ATP/WTA singles ranking.
ITF World Tennis Tour Singles Ranking
ITF World Tennis Tour Men / Women Singles Ranking 20 points The applicant will be awarded 20 points if he/she holds an ITF World Tennis Tour Men / Women of 1800 in Singles ranking.
ITF Junior Ranking

The applicant will be awarded points based on his/her ITF Junior ranking.

The applicant will be awarded points based on his/her ranking shown on the STA website.

ATP / WTA Doubles Ranking
ATP / WTA Doubles Ranking 10 points The applicant will be awarded 10 points if he/she holds an ATP/WTA doubles ranking.
ITF World Tennis Tour Doubles Ranking
ITF World Tennis Tour Men / Women Doubles Ranking 10 points The applicant will be awarded 10 points if he/she holds an ITF World Tennis Tour Men / Women of 1800 in Doubles ranking.
ITF Junior Doubles Ranking

The applicant must show consistent participation in ITF Junior Doubles events and will be awarded points based on his/her ITF Junior ranking.

Athletes with a verified ITF World Tennis Number (WTN) may receive up to 20 points under this category.

Maximum Points

Athletes holding a verified ITF World Tennis Number profile are eligible for WTN points.

Requirement

Athlete must have a verified WTN profile with a blue tick.

Eligible athletes may receive up to 20 points.

Daily Training Environment

To qualify for DTE points, the primary coach must be NROC registered.
