The World Tennis Number is a global rating system developed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). It provides a real-time skill level for every tennis player in the world, regardless of age, gender, or ability.
The Scale: 40 (Beginner) to 1 (Elite Professional).
Separate Ratings: You get one rating for Singles and one for Doubles.
If you have played in any STA-sanctioned tournament, you likely already have a profile!
1) Visit WorldTennisNumber.com.
2) Search for your name.
3) If you don't have one, you can register for free through the Singapore Tennis Association (STA) portal or the ITF website.
The WTN is calculated using a sophisticated algorithm that analyzes match results from 2016 onwards.
It looks at who you played and what the pre-match prediction was.
It analyzes results at the set level (meaning every set you win helps your rating, even if you lose the overall match).
Recent results carry more weight than older ones.
A blue checkmark next to your number indicates High Confidence. This means you have played enough recent matches (usually about 6–15 sets over a few weeks) for the algorithm to be very certain of your level.
Note: For many STA tournaments and international ITF events, a Verified (Blue Tick) status is required for entry or seeding.
WTN is a dynamic system. It updates every Wednesday. This allows you to track your progress in almost "real-time" as you compete in Singapore Tennis Association (STA) events or sanctioned club matches.
This sometimes happens if your name was spelled differently in two different tournament registrations. You can submit a "Merge Request" through the ITF WTN Help Centre to combine your match history into one accurate profile.
It is common for players competing in multiple countries (e.g., across Southeast Asia or internationally) to accidentally end up with "Duplicate Profiles." This happens because each National Tennis Association (like the STA) sends data to the ITF separately. If your registration details aren't an exact match, the system creates a new account for each country.
Having multiple accounts splits your match history, which often results in an inaccurate rating and a "Grey Tick" (Low Confidence) status, even if you play frequently.
1) You must merge your profiles to create one unified Global Tennis ID.
2) Find the URLs or WTN IDs for all your active profiles on the World Tennis Number website.
3) Submit a request through the ITF WTN Help Centre.
4) Include your full name (as per passport), date of birth, and the email address you want to use as your primary login.
Once merged, all your international match results will be calculated together. This ensures your rating is accurate, your "Blue Tick" status is achieved faster, and your seeding is correct regardless of which country you are competing in.
For Technical Issues (Duplicate Profiles / Merging Accounts): The ITF manages the global database. You should contact the ITF WTN Help Centre directly by submitting a Support Request Here. Be sure to include your full name, Date of Birth, WTN ID number and STA ID.
For Local Tournament Entry & Singapore Rankings: If your question is about how your WTN affects your entry or seeding into STA-sanctioned events, please email us at info@singtennis.org.sg with your full name and STA ID.
